Apartment Owner's Notes and Description
This wonderful penthouse located in the heart of Rome invites its guests to an extraordinary experience thanks to its fantastic interior design, with a magnificent baroque style and antics. It is located on the top of a medieval tower, in the most ancient and characteristic part of Rome, in a building built over an ancient Roman temple still visible in the basement, dedicated either to Hercules or to the God Neptune. This cosy apartment accommodates up to four guest as it is composed of a beautiful master bedroom with a double bed. Surrounded by bookshelves, furnished and decorated with artefacts and antics, with stunning details such as the bed-frame, guests will be carried into a unique journey through history and time. Two guests can sleep in the living room as a double sofa-bed is concealed and folds out from the wall. The quaint kitchenette is fully equipped and two French doors will take you to the small balcony with an enchanting view of the several church domes and the ancient Roman rooftop. The bathroom has a shower and a beautiful washbasin, custom made in heavy high quality marble. The living room, published some time ago on the cover of Architectural Digest, is a Luis XVI fantasy decorated with angels and tree tops on a sky background.

First, the building was under construction while we were there. We had to duck under a scaffolding and manuever around all the dusty bags of concrete, wires, etc. to get to the apartment. We would not have minded the 75 steps had they been through a pretty building, but it was a mess. It was noisy and dusty and stinky. One day we couldn't even get in because there was wet concrete. They were jackhammering during the day which was quite unpleasant. One night it was very rainy and the apartment got a serious leak in the ceiling and we had to call the manager. Then maybe beause of the rain or the jackhammer, one of the big statues fell off the shelf high on the wall and landed on the couch. Luckily we were not sitting on the couch at the time! Then one of the chairs collapsed when my husband sat on it. The place does look like the pictures, but in person it is very shabby and in need of some updating... the grout in the bathroom is a mess, the furniture need to be reupholstered and some fresh pillows put in. The kitchen is cute but very small, big enough for one person at a time. So it was difficult to cook much.
The neighborhood is great and easy to walk anywhere. We were sorry that we didn't have a room in one of the cute local hotels instead. We actually left a day early and were relieved to get out, although there was no money refunded, but we just wanted out anyway.
This apartment would be great if they ever get the building construction done and then go in and update the apartment itself. It really needs it! If you blur your eyes and look around, it is really cool and the art and objects are fabulous... just don't look too close!

This apartment is exquisite; an exprience in itself. It is thoroughly Roman, decorated with exceptional and unique artistry. You can stare at the ceiling and walls and marvel at the singular frescoes. The furniture is antique and gorgeous. It was done with a lot of thought and skill. As for location, you can't beat it. On a quiet street, in a very old and solid building, a few minutes walk from Campo dei Fiore, and 10 minutes from the heart of Trastevere. Also a few minutes walk and you're at the transportation hub of Argentina, or in the center of the Ghetto with all its marvelous charm. Lying in bed, you stare out the window at a sumptuous baroque dome - heavenly. The balcony is wonderful and has a better view than the pictures illustrate. The owners are most friendly, and if you're lucky enough to get to talk to them, you'll find them engaging, educated, cultivated, refined, and a real pleasure. They designed this piece of art themselves. The only slight criticism I have is that the bed is a bit hard. My partner found it quite comfortable, but with my bad back.... My cousin spent a night on the studio couch in the living room and found it very comfortable. For the rest, I can't reccomend this phenomonal apartment too highly. I found it decidedly difficult to leave this place!!!
