Trastevere means “across the Tiber” . This medieval area is located on the west bank of the Tiber river. Part of historical centre of Rome, Trastevere is the perfect place while together with the old history you can enjoy today's Romans amusement. From the cobblestone streets to the overhanging laundry lines, senses are pleasantly awakened with every step you take in this bohemian neighborhood that is middle way from the Coliseum and the Vatican. Trastevere is an ideal place to discover the secrets of Rome on foot. Saint Peter's and the Vatican City are about twenty minutes away and just crossing the Tiber you get to Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Navona , Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti (the Spanish Steps) , the Foro Romano, and many other sights, in few minutes at all (15 to 30 minutes walk). If you want to take public transportation, the area is well served both by tram and by buses. The district becomes very lively at night as it is full of trendy bars and lots of good restaurants and pizzerias, where you can taste great Italian food at reasonable prices. Trastevere is definitely one of Rome's most typical and charming quarters, being a sort of village within a city.
We had a great time at Roberto's apartment in Rome. It's a super location, with cafes and little shops around the corner, and a nice walk to the Tiber river, I would definitely stay there again. Everything was clean and the two of us were very comfortable there. Having free Wi-Fi was sweet and the place was just as pictured.
This apartment in Rome is set on the second floor of an old building with the door and kitchen looking out over a walkway and into the interior of the building and the bedroom window facing over a small street. The apartment is small but divides into several small spaces making it feel big enough.
If you're coming to Trastavere you're coming for the location and this is it. An easy walk to Rome's best non-tourist eating and markets as well as an easy walk across the Tevere to the classic sights of Rome.
I recommend Roberto and the House of Flowers to anyone.
