Nestled in the rooftops of Trastevere a lovely little appartement, with high ceilings, huge terrace, lovely atmosphere, typically Italian. Huge master bed, and a fold out couch-bed (one place.. or 2 skinny lovers!) which is comfortable. Very well sittuated, 2 mins from the big road with trams called Viale di Trastevere. Ask all taxi drivers to drop you on this road at the 'Oviesse' supermarket. (The Tevere (Tiber river) end of the road) or the one way system will add about 15mins on your trip!
The little street is full of small traditional food shops, and not touristic at all. The supermarket beneath the flat, sells food in the basement. If you go left on coming out of the door, you will get to Santa Maria del Trastevere (the heart of the area) in about 5 mins. I will stay again!

We were in Rome for the first time, so we wanted an authentic place to stay. This apartment in the heart of Trastevere was just perfect for us. The terrace with roses and plants was fantastic. The supermarket is nextdoor downstairs- although, if you are from the city where everything is open 24 hours, you have to mind the open hours and publick holidays.
There was no hairdryer and there were ants in the kitchen - but if you don't store food in open parcels, they are gone)

HI!
I'm happy that you've enjoyed your stay here. About the ants: never there are insects in the house, but the kitchen is near the terrace where there're jasimines, wisterias and roses. If you don't keep closed the bottle of honey ore the box of sugar, the ants smell it and can come in. If you keep stoned the food they don't. Bye

This apartment is just perfect. We spent three wonderful weeks in the heart of Trastevere. His sunny terrace is wonderful and the rooms are tastefully decorated. All the utilities worked very well. The location could not have been better. It's very warm and quiet. If you want to be living a nice time in Rome this is the place.

Thanks for the great opportunity to stay in Rome in a lovely period property, perfectly located right in the middle of the city! The flat is cosy and bright, with sun shining directly in from 8am till 2pm and than letting in a lovely golden light until sunset. The apartment is nice and quiet, so we could sleep in till late when needed! Would recommend to anyone wanting a place in Rome!

The best thing about this apartment was its agent, who was lovely and very helpful, and its closeness to the restaurants and sights of Trastevere. Its street, Via San Francesco a Ripa, has many good restaurants, cafes and shops, including a chocolate shop across the street and a welcoming pasticceria on the corner. You can get to the central sights of the city by taking a bus on Viale di Trastevere, which is steps away, to the subway stop at Circus Massimus, or by taking the tram on Viale di Trastevere across the river to its final stop, and figuring out the bus system from there. We did not have to do this, though, because we rented a scooter (highly recommended, if you have a motorcycle license). However, this apartment was not worth the money we spent on it. The toilet seat is too small and is falling off. The shower door didn't fully close. Hot water became tepid after three minutes. The towels were thin and worn. The mattress is old, lumpy and uncomfortable. The refrigerator did not cool items fully because the freezer is iced over and needs defrosting. It was noisy at night because of a popular bar up the street and a family of gulls living on the apartment roof next door that squawked continuously. While the terrace was sunny the apartment was dark. It was not the kind of place that you wanted to spend an evening or a lazy morning relaxing in, despite the allure of the terrace, which had been the selling point for us. We ended up not using it at all. If you plan on getting up, getting out, spending your entire day seeing Rome, and coming home to sleep, and you don't mind minimal amenities, then consider renting this space....but only if you can't find something cheaper, like a youth hostel or a room at a convent.

OWNER'S ANSWER :
I'm sorry for this bad review mainly because the lady, never complained about anything durring the stay. She asked for help to buy phone cards, to know where to go for dinner and book them a taxi to the airport. she seemed excited. Other guests who have read the post as I have, have been surprised.
I do not know why she wrote that you can hear the noise of the bars, it is impossible to hear voices from the street. The apartment is centrally located in an ancient former convent and its characteristic is precisely to be incredibly quiet despite being in the middle of Trastevere.
However, the house is bathed in sunlight from morning until 12 am or 2pm, depending on the seasons. Then the light comes from three large windows, but you must go on the terrace to have it all.
The mattress is new, queen size bed. The seat of the toilet has been changed, the dimensions are standard, identical to those of all the normal wc. The fridge has been changed. The shower door, locks tightly it's true, but no water comes out so it does not create any problem. The water heater is electric and is always on. The water is too hot, you have to mix it not to get burned. It 's enough to ensure two showers. Obviously, if you want to stay very long time under the shower, wait for it to heat up again.
What about the seagulls? They populate the sky of Rome for years. They call each other by flying, but they are birds, not alarms.

siamo stati qui a capodanno, e purtroppo era ancora un po' freddo per godere della bellissima terrazza, che sarà una meraviglia in primavera/estate. la posizione è ottimale e l'appartamento è intimo e confortevole.
