This apartment is in a perfect location in Rome. You will find most places are within walking distance which was great for us. There is a great little cafe on the corner which sells home made traditional Italian food which was not expensive at all. The apartment itself is very basic but is very traditional & authentic which is what we wanted. I would like to comment on the mattress in the first bedroom - it was far too soft and hubby and I kept rolling into each other. The mattress has no support what so ever & hubby ended up on the floor on a spare mattress. I hardly slept at all as it was so uncomfortable. I do feel this needs changing ASAP. The rest if the apartment is fine & we really enjoyed our holiday staying there. Perfect location and reasonably priced :)

The apartment needs a few more cups and glasses, overall it is nice but a little bit run down.  The mattresses were not good.  The Kitchen table was very wobbly, the cupboards have parts that need to be glued back into place.  The hot water did not work well.

We enjoyed it and the price but those are things that would take it to four stars.
Owner Comments: Hi Timothy, we really appreciate your feedback, we'll immediately look into the above mentioned problems and fix all that isn't properly working. Thank you!

We travelled to Rome as a family of 7.  This included 2 teenagers and a five year old, 2 elderley parents.  The apartment is spacious with 3 bedrooms and lots of spare foldaway beds that could have accommodated more than our party.  The balcony stretches the width of 2 of the bedrooms and is lovely to be out on.

The kitchen is well equipped with all mod cons.  There are surplus items of crockery, cutlery and pots and pans.  A washing machine that washes all the grime of daily tourist traipses and a clothes horse that dries the clothes almost instanteounsly! Ironing board and iron are all provided.

The decor is a little dated and the shutters could do with a coat of paint.  The apartment contains large pieces of furniture yet accommodates 10 suitcases plus hand luggage with ease.  The wardrobes are stocked with spare blankets, beddinng and towels. 2 of the 3 bedrooms have functioning air conditioning units (these are essential, as the heat is oppressive), however the third bedroom substitutes poorly with a fan that des nothing but circulate the heat...

That said we loved the apartment.  It's location is perfect for sightseeing, although everything in Rome is horrendously expensive!

The airport is a good hours drive away.  This does not matter, as the apartment comes highly recommended.  You will not be disappointed.

A happy English family

This is an amazing apartment. The location in Rome is perfect. Its a 10 minute walk from Roma Termini, and less to the closest Metro station. Its also a 10 minute walk to the Colosseum. And that's the touristy things. A grocery store is close by (great for stocking up for breakfast and other meals eaten in the apartment) and if you walk down the street that the apartment looks out on you will find two pizzerias and even further down is a charming (and affordable cafe).

The apartment is roomy and having two restrooms was very helpful. We felt perfectly safe, and we felt that our belongings were safe when we weren't there. Its a good neighborhood and Maria was so friendly and helpful during our check-in. The washing machine was also a blessing.

Things that added to the character: the A/C didn't work as well as we hoped. They ran, but they didn't produce much cold air. I'm not sure the remotes worked right with the units. Fan speed and temp didn't change even though the remote and A/C unit beeped when we hit the buttons. Even so, we were there the first week of July. The location of the apt and the thickness of the walls guaranteed that the apt was cool even in the 90 degree heat. The beds were comfortable. The master suite's mattress was a bit on the soft-side, but that's just my preference, and we were't used to the shower curtain, but once we figured it all out we were very happy and comfortable.

I recommend this apartment!

O.k. - the apartment was a bit worn and there was not a lot of glassware to drink out of.....but, it is in a super duper excellent location where we could walk to the Forum, Trevi, Pantheon, etc with ease. The neighborhood is very safe and I felt comfortable having my family there. If you are only in Rome for a few days - this is the place.

Excellent location and size but needs some money spending on the apartment which was rather shabby.  Bed frames broken on both double beds, both these were very creaky and mattresses extremely soft, not very comfortable.  The single beds in the 3rd bedroom were uncomfortably hard:  mattresses were onto hardboard rather than a divan.  Pillows very cheap and thin, beds were made up with only one each.  There was only one mug in the apartment so the keyholder gave us money to buy some more and now there are five.  Hot water will stretch to 3 showers if you are quick but if there are a lot of people staying the apartment you would need a shower rota!

Two families traveling together (total 8 people); we stayed two nights.  There was plenty of room for all.  Good location - easy walk to the Colleseum and Forum.  Close to a metro stop if needed - though we walked comfortably all the way to the Vatican.  The apartment is a little more worn than the pictures indicate, but everything was functional including the air conditioning.  We researched several places in Rome and found this a very good deal.  We spent relatively little time in the apartment itself preferring to explore the city.  This apartment served our needs - an inexpensive place to stay, relatively close to the city center, clean, and in a safe neighborhood.

We were able to sleep 10 people in this aparment and had a great time. Its location was easy walking to the metro and Colosseum. There were great restaurants and grocery stores near by. The washing machine was a plus but I wish the AC was a tad bit stronger.

We stayed in this apartment for 4 nights. The booking process was very easy and the apartment was as advertised. Spacious kitchen, bathroom, and 3 large bedrooms. There were 4 of us so plenty of space. There is a smaller room with washer and toilet. The apartment was clean and well furnished. The keyholder was waiting at the building and was very helpful in showing us the apartment, making sure we could open and close the large door, and telling us things around the area. It was great staying in a non-tourist community. Great Cafe right next door and a Supermarket only 2 minutes away. We were about a 10 minute walk to the Colleseum and 15-20 minute walk to the Termini. This apartment  was perfect for us. The only suggestion is to have more coffee mugs (there were only 3) if renting to North Americans- we love our big coffee/tea.

This was the first time we used Roman Reference but definitely not our last and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Enjoy the apartment for what it is- a wonderful spacious, cost-effective stay in the City of Roma!

Message to Cities Reference: Would you be so kind to thank the keyholder who was waiting for us on May 16? He was very helpful and friendly.

We will definitely use your company again

The best place to start sightseeing of Rome. Everywhere is closely: Colosseum, Forum Romanum and even to go on foot to Trastevere (ca. 1h) at night to drink alcoholic beverages and amuse and to go back on foot - if you'll be able to do it ;) The flat has enough place for 10 people (sleeping and eating). It would better to have for disposal more caps for tee or coffe. For 4 people is enough but for ten ... we were forced to struggle for them :) I think, the photos were done few years ago, because it looks no more so "fresh". Nonetheless, I reccomend the flat.

Apartment is excellent located in a very nice area of Rome. Easy to travel by subway, walk to colloseum, take the hop on /hop off bus.
Apartment is OK to stay with 5 persons. Only 1 bathroom available. Furniture is a bit old.  Lots of restaurants do go for a very nice italian dinner.

A clean well appointed appartment, ideally situated for getting in and out of the city Centre. It was a pity there were no 'easy' chairs' to relax in but we managed to drink our aperitifs around the kitchen table!. It proved an ideal alternative to bed and breakfast in a hotel, and worked out cheaper. Some good restaurants within easy walking distance.

The appartment is very clean, there is enoough stuff for cooking in the kitchen and there is enough space for 10 people with seperatly beds.
Only one thing we didn´t know that there is only one shower maybe you can type it on the Homepage.
We enjoined our trip very much and the kitchen is wonderful to sit in the evening together after sunny days in rome.

We stayed 5 nights in this apartment, it was our first visit to Rome. The location was very convenient for us...relatively close to Termini Station, a grocery store across the street, gelato up the next block, the subway station 2 blocks, and walking distance (downhill) to the Coliseum . The neighborhood felt safe and was reasonably quiet. There is a small lift to the floor. The apartment itself is very basic but for the price and location, met our needs just fine. Only one room had air and TV and the beds are pretty old. We made use of the fridge, utensils and sink to eat breakfast there each morning. Laundry is very convenient but the washer needs work and there is no dryer. Neighbors were quiet. Shared among 3 couples, everyone enjoyed both the stay and the cost savings.
Management replies: We really appreciate your feedback! Confirmed only one cable TV in the apartment, 2 air conditioning units in two different bedrooms. All the mattresses have been checked, five of them have been replaced with new ones.

Central place in town. Maintenance of the apartment is bad. Only five forks to six persons. Most of the small lamps by the beds in the bedrooms were out of order.
Management Replies: We're sorry you didn't appreciate the maintenance! We don't understand about the forks there are plenty of them, we've added more just in case, now there is 12 of each. It's true about the lamps and we have fixed them now, sorry about that! Please do tell us druing your stay, these are things we can fix on the spot.

This is an optimally functional apartment: spacious, convenient, and accessible. It is near two supermarkets; the closer one is vastly superior to the other. One may purchase metro/bus tickets of all types - daily, weekly, etc - at the tobacco shop next to the apartment building. The proprietor has a working knowledge of several non-Italian languages. The apartment has no-frills. One cannot and should not run too many appliances at the same time: the circuit breaker will shut off the electricity fast. This is simple enough to fix, as the breaker is in a small cabinet to the right of the front door when you enter. The air conditioners will not reduce the rooms to icebox temperature, as some might expect or desire. But they will certainly create comfortable sleeping conditions. An excellent cross breeze is evident in the apartment when the big windows and room doors are left open. The Roman Reference representative, Maria, was swift and responsible in resolving questions or small problems. The agency moreover responded as quickly to our emails while we were in the apartment as it did when we corresponded from New York. Once again, this is a fine, basic place to stay, with ample room for lage families and groups. Do not expect endless amounts of hot water. Do not expect the finest mattresses money can buy. Luxury is not the point. The apartment enabled our group of five to enjoy a central base, with all fundamental services, from which to experience as many things as we could squeeze into a week.
Management Replies: Mattresses have been replaced with new ones (5 of them) or checked. Sorry about that!

Great location. Noisy at night when the trash trucks come through. Washing machine does not work. Very roomy and nice. No complaints. Grocery market down the street, great places to eat, bus and metro close by. Would stay again.

Good - apartment clean, very roomy, large bathroom, convenient location to subway, restaurants, supermarket, short walk to Colloseum.
Bad - apartment needs updating and is tired...needs painting, updated furnitire, some furniture coming apart such as kitchen chairs, bed rails.
Management Reply: We're awfully sorry to read your review. We have the pleasure to inform you though, that as a consequence of it, we've immediately repainted the areas you indicate, gotten rid of the old paintings and fixed the chairs and the furniture in need of refreshment. We sincerely hope to be working with you again and offer you a discount on your next visit.

The position of the apartment is very good, some of the most important sights are within easy reach on foot ( Colosseum, Forum romanum ). There is a beautiful park nearby. The underground station ( Vittorio Emanuelle ) is about 4 minutes walk, on the way there there is a good and cheap supermarket.
The flat itself is on the second floor of the house, it's quite big. We were two families ( four adults and five children ) in the three spacious rooms, and the flat is big enough not to disturb each other. There's a large kitchen with a dining area, all of us had a seat, so we could have our meals together. In the kitchen you can find all the equipments that you need. There are two toilets, it is necessary for such a lot of people. There are a lot of pictures on the walls, we liked them. The only problem was the bedlinen . There weren't enough. There were only sheets and some thin blankets to cover ourselves up, which is enough in summer, but not in cooler seasons. And I recommend that the owner should change some of the pillows to those with synthetic filling, not feather, because some people are allergic like my daughter. Fortunately we could find one with synthetic, so we could solve the problem. All in all I can recommend the flat to anyone else, especially big families or groups. I would return, if I went back to Rome.
Management Reply: Thank you for your kind feedback! We've added some syntetic pillows and blankets. Sorry to read about the linens, please always specify very clearly when booking how many beds you are going to need. We'll give you a discount on your next booking with our network to make up for the problem.

I feel its slightly false to advertise this as haveing two bathrooms. It actually has one bathroom, and a second toilet.Management Reply: Sorry you feel that way, on our Q&A and also on the description we prompt clients to read the detailed description rather than the one used for search. Unfortunately the software doesn't have space for details but if you read the detailed apartment description it does specify exactly what's in the small one: '#2 toilet room with washing machine, electric water heater, small window, no shower or bath tub'

Owner Replies: I'm terribly sorry to read this. We've since repainted the apartment and fixed or bought the furniture with problems. All lights and plugs have been checked and are in working order. Sorry about this, CitiesReference offers a discount on your next trip to make up for the problems you've had.

Manager Reply: We're sorry about the sockets, they've been fixed now. Also very sorry to read about the missing linens. Linens are taken there expressedly for you by the Laundry service. When you book is very important that you specify how many beds you're going to need. Unfortunately this had already happened once. Yet there are two last minute solutions for this kind of problem 1. Tell the keyholder upon check in 2. If you realize after he or she has left you'll find extra sets in the small bathroom's loft. Otherwise I'm happy to read everything else was ok. To compensate for the problems you had we'll offer you a discount on your next rental with the CitiesReference network. Thank you!

Clean. Good location. Quiet. There is no living room (the dining room has a TV/DVD). Only two bedrooms are air conditioned. Booked for four guys, and only three beds were made up. Could not find extra linens to make up other beds. Manager Reply: Sorry about that Richard, I'm glad you accepted our refund for failing to get the fourth bed ready. Normally extra linens are in the chest of drawers or in the laundry room.

Another good apartment for us. The location is pretty good, although not as dramatic as the other places we stayed. It was about a 10 minute walk to the Coliseum. Most everything else we wanted to see (other than St. Peter-in-Chains Church) was a farther hike. The neighborhood itself was very nice. There is a very convenient supermarket less than a block away, which we used quite a bit. We didn't find any good restaurants in the immediate area, however.

As for the apartment itself: The space is very large, so if you're traveling with more than four people it's an excellent choice. The bedrooms are probably the best part of this apartment. Three really nice big rooms. Two of them have air conditioners, and those worked very well. (note that if you use the AC you have to empty a bucket that collects the condensation every day or two, a minor inconvenience.) Our bedroom was really an escape. We'd go in there, shut the door, close the windows and lose track of time. It's dark, quiet, cool - perfect after a tough day of walking around in the heat and crowds.

There is an entrance space when you come in the front door that leads to two bathrooms on the right, the kitchen/dining space ahead and bedrooms to the left. The main bathroom is huge. It had the best water pressure and temperature control in the shower of any place we stayed. The second bathroom is a narrow space that works but isn't all that comfortable to use. The washing machine is in there - it worked well for us. Again no clothes dryer - we used the hanging rack and put that in the large first bathroom to dry our clothes.

The dining room is a small table with four chairs and a china hutch. The kitchen was very large, with a big refrigerator. No microwave here which was a big disappointment. Otherwise the kitchen was excellent.

The décor was austere throughout. There is a collection of blue jeans ads in frames on one wall and an inexplicable framed photo of a zebra's butt on another. The furniture in the bedrooms is beautiful though - I'd love to have some of the pieces in those rooms!

This apartment also had an elevator, a very narrow lift like the other places. But it worked and we loved it.

Our communications with the apartment managers were all courteous and prompt. Enso met us at the apartment and showed us around - he was very nice to deal with as well.

I'd be happy to stay at this apartment again. If I went back I might try to find something closer to the Pantheon area, or perhaps something smaller with a larger commons area. But overall we were very happy with this apartment and the folks who manage it.

The location is excellent, the apartment was very pleasant and had plenty of rooms for the 6 of us. The street off the bedrooms was a little noisy during the night, but not enough to distract from our enjoyment of the week. We would definitely consider staying here again if we return to Rome. Thanks!

Felt comfortable, well stocked with things needed. Furniture, decorating traditional and lovely. We were a family of 6 staying, normally we stay in hotels. This time we really enjoyed the feeling of stay in the apartment. Down time was spent together rather than in pairs.

The apartment was very clean and nicely furnished. The neighborhood is convenient. Renting an apartment is a great way to travel with children, more economical than a hotel and a better way for children to see daily life in a different place. Roman Reference was the only rental service we found with larger apts available. We were very happy with our stay.
