Dear Guest,
Welcome to apartment 267. Our home is situated in Trastevere, one of the oldest and liveliest parts of Rome, full of Restaurants and cafés but also at a short walk from the Botanical Gardens of Rome, local museums and sights (including the Farnesina with frescoes by Raphael and Santa Maria in Trastevere one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in Rome) and the American Academy in Rome. It is in a quiet street very close to the river Tiber and the bridge called Ponte Sisto which takes you right into the heart of Rome and from where most of the sights are within walking distance. At about a 20 minute walk, on the left side of the river, one can reach St. Peters and the Vatican. In Piazza S. Cosimato you will find a local open air market with fresh produce but the area is well served with delicatessens and supermarkets.
The apartment is in an 18th century building with high wooden beamed ceilings and has a very personal charm due to the owner’s many travels and interests as an art historian
The apartment has been refurbished this year (2011). Improvements have been made also thanks to the kind suggestions that have been made by our previous guests. Most of the apartment has been re-painted and new lighting has been put into the bathroom and sitting/dining room and bedrooms and corridor. There are new kitchen utensils, towels and bed linen. A new flat screen television has been placed in the sitting room. A new flat screen has been bought for the computer which is at your disposal together with a printer. A WIFI connection is now available for your computer should you want to use it.
The bedrooms have also been redecorated with new beds and mattresses, a new cupboard with hanging space and drawers, a pouf for you to sit on and new lighting.
A new hot water boiler was installed in September 2011 and the apartment has independent central heating.
We hope you enjoy staying with us and please feel free to ask us for any information you might need.

The apartment has a very good location! The flat is very authentic. And at the same time have everything you need - own heating system, high speed internet. We had small problem with heating on the first day but it was solved by the owner in several hours! I would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to see and feel the Rome!
December 2011 / France
Conclusion : NOUS RECOMMANDONS

This apartment is in a good location. You will be 30-minute walk to any place in Rome. Public transportation is limited to Bus and Taxi from here, so we walked and had a different adventure on our way to our destination each day. The owners were very friendly and sat down with us to go over the map and gave recommendations that were helpful. They had plenty of guidebooks and maps. Afterwards, they gave us a short tour of their neighborhood. The pictures accurately reflect the apartment and accommodated my family of 4 for 6 nights. There are a number of good restaurants and ice cream shops near by at good rates. There is a grocery store 5 minutes walk to get the basics. The 1st floor (2nd Story to the US person) apartment had no security issues. The computer and WiFi Internet came in very handy and allowed us to stay in touch and research our next days plan. There was a laser printer available for us to use, too. The bad part of this was the nightclub directly below the apartment. One night, they went on until 3 am. I called the owners the next day, and they were able to get the music reduced to a manageable level in order to get some sleep, but I would bring some earplugs. The apartment has thin walls so you do hear the occasional moped or car in the street, voices from the hallway, or a neighbors banging on the wall. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. If the night club were to go, I would rate the apartment 5 stars.

It's a nice flat in a great area. Very comfortable, great books and art everywhere, and was well equipped. The owner met usa t the flat and took us through everything, whcih was very helpful.
There were maps, guides and it was easy to cook there, internet access was great and there was even a computer too.
Only drawback, and no fault of the woner, was the fact that 2 days before we left a bar opened right underneath us. As it featured a picture of Charles Bukowski on the window, it's not surpirsing there was a lot of drinking and carousing. There are shutters on the windows but earplugs were necessary.
The Trastavere is a great area, and you're only about 50 metres from Dar Poeta, which is a brilliant pizza place. Great gelateria are all around too.

This apartment is perfect for a couple or 4 people to spend a relaxing, easy going time in Rome.
We stayed here for the full week just the two of us in November and it was just perfect. Comfy beds and plenty of room. It's really cosey and homeley and we really felt we could relax and hang out there. A nice little balcony to dry clothes, washing machine and we found everything in the kitchen we could need. Plenty of towels and bedding provided. Free computer with internet also which was very handy!
Lots of very interesting books and art on the walls. The heating worked really well and the hot water was fine once we found out how to work the boiler! The shower is powerful enough.
Trastevere really is the best place to stay. It is very beautiful and everything you could possibly want to see is walking distance. Vatican is about 15 mins walk through beautiful parks, Ancient Rome is a 20 min walk, pantheon and Piazza Navona 15 mins walk. There are some beautiful squares, boutiques and churches near the apartment and a convenient little supermarket 1 min walk with a much bigger supermarket 10 mins walk. (We found this by accident - it is on Viale Trastevere in the basement of a big clothes store.) There are some good places to eat and drink as well (always check drinks prices before you order in the restaurants on the piazzas)
The area does get a bit noisy on friday and saturday night but the atmosphere is so good that you will probably want to stay out with the locals late into the night anyway! We certainly did! There is a cool Irish bar that has a happy hour until 10pm with amazing cocktails near by. If not just bring ear plugs for those weekend nights and you will be fine!
All in all it was a brilliant stay and the apartment really did add so much to our holiday! The owners were lovely and waited for us for 2 hours to arrive as our flight was delayed. They made sure we were settled in and were really accomodating about departure times.
If you're looking for a comfortable large apartment that you can really make your own go for this one! 5 stars definitely!
Happy holidays!

Apartment is all about location. Really centrally located - we ended up walking everywhere, no real need for buses or trams.
Really great restaurants and pubs near by too.
Apartment is comfortable and free wifi was a real bonus. Only issue was with the shower , which tended to flood the bathroom a bit.
Would really recommend this property.

Thank you very much for the note and links! Your small tour of Trastevere, the links you've sent and information on our maps has been wonderful for our first few days here in Rome. We have covered a lot of ground the last few days in seeing many of the big "touristy" sites and, now that we have a much better sense of direction and the layout of the city, can find our own favorite spots.
The flat is great and we are all really enjoying our time in it and in Trastevere. So far we've mastered the stove, the hot water heater, and the recycling system without any difficulty or problems! I can guarantee that we won't be bored with all the books here to explore in the apartment
We will be sure to let you know if we have any questions about the flat, architecture, Rome, etc. Having you here and being so helpful is an amazing resource that many of our classmates that are living in other areas of the city are quite jealous of!
Cheers!

Thank you for this. We all went to the Fernese on Monday and had a fantastic time. They are having a lovely stay and enjoying the apartment very much, so thank you again.
All the best

We were very pleased with the size of the apartment and the amenities. Our heat and hot water went out one night but the landlord hurried right over the next morning and set things right. I have stayed in tourist rental loft apartments in the neighborhood two other times, but definitely, this sublet was THE best. We will rent the apartment again when we return to Rome.
October 2010 / Denmark
We (family of four -with children of 11 and 14) really enjoyed our stay in this very nice and authentic place.
After a long day's walking it was fantastic to get back and relax in the sofas in the sitting-room watching the nice paintings - and reading a good book. We also appreciated the available PC with internet-conncetion. Bath-room may be a little small, however we learned to cope with that - no problem! We would all love to come back some day. Excellent communication with- and information from owner and Roman Reference staff.

This is a really nice apartment. It's roomy and has a lot of personal touches which are nice. Most things worked well and I was welcomed by one of the owners who took the time to explain where things were and introduce me to the local restauranter which was nice. They also were fine with me leaving after lunch on the last day rather than 10am which was really helpful. The location is fabulous - Tresevere is gorgeous and has more locals than tourists which makes you feel like you are 'living in Rome'. It is not far to walk into central Rome and there are many bars and restaurants within a few minutes walking distance. Having so many bars/restaurants means you do hear voices into the night but it's not a really noisy crowd so I found that ok. My only real issue was that the shopfront below me was being gutted and from Mon-Thur there was a lot of builders noise during the day (including major drilling) which was really annoying. I was not informed this would happen and when I contacted Roman References all I got back was an 'we didn't know' email which I felt was pretty unsatisfactory. But presumably this was a one-off and on balance I did enjoy the experience. Can absolutely recommend staying in an apartment over a hotel.

Authentical appartment in a very nice neighbourhood of Rome very near the old city (just across the river by the Sisto-bridge). Very nice owner, mr. Filippo who gave us a warm welcome with some good advices on restaurants, shops and other stuff.
Minor details: the bathroom is small, as is the kitchen. In the weekends there is a lot of rumour in the small Vicolo del Bologna because of people shouting and singing after visiting bars.
Oh, and the dvd-player didn't play our dvd's.
April 2010 / Norway
we had a very enjoyable stay in this apartment. It is well situated (great restaurant about 10 m down the same street!), clean (bit of dust under the beds, but minor), and comfortable to live (one bed was less comfortable than the other however - hard on back). The only thing one can say was sorely lacking had nothing to do with the apartment itself, but the information sheet that is offered by (we assume) Roman Reference. Lots of info on getting a taxi, shops nearby etc - but NO EMERGENCY NUMBERS!! There was a fire nearby (nothing to do with the apartment) and we wished to call an emergency number, and struggled to find it. We suggest that all emergency numbers are included on the info sheet, including how to dial them if using a foreign mobile telephone. this was our only problem. Otherwise, we would happily stay here again.

Quartier sympathique. A recommander !

We just finished our vacation at Rome and we stayed for a whole week at this apartment. The apartment is cozy and functional. The building (and the neighborrhood too) is old yet charming in its own way. The owners Filippo and Andrea were extremely kind and helpful. And the location, what a great location. Not only many attractions are within walking distance, if you were a foodie, this place is heaven. There are dozens of ristorante's, trattoria's, pizzerie's, bars, etc within 5 minutes of walking. Trastevere is really the culinary center of Rome. Every night this part of the town is packed with Romans, not foreign tourists but Romans. I had my personal best pizza at a place right there on the same Bologna street. Usually one would have to wait for at least 20 minutes for a table at this place, but staying in this apartment could just do take out.
The only problem we had was that on weekend nights (Friday and Saturday nights) this tiny street could get noisy even deep into late night because of people walking back home from bars in this area. However, I have to say this part of the street is very quiet on regular nights, only weekend nights when groups of young people passing by half drunk and excited. Well, I guess this may actually be a plus depending on what you are looking for in vacation, because it is a testimony for what Trastevere offers.

A very happy experience in an apartment which is perfectly located, has good facilities and plenty of its own fascinations (in terms of books and pictures). Filippo gave us a warm and helpful welcome and the four of us found the apartment perfect for our needs. We would happily return (indeed we didn't want to leave!).

The apartment was just as pictured on your website, comfortable, functional, and charming. The location was great, with the Vatican, the Pantheon, and the Roman Forum all within walking distance. The apartment owner took us on a tour of the neighborhood pointing out restaurants and introducing us to the neighbors, which was great fun and helpful. I would definitely stay in the apartment again on a return trip.
My only complaint is with Roman Reference. If a booking agent (nda: Sandra) is to be out on leave then some other agent should be temporarily assigned her responsibilities or an automatic email response which indicates the agent's return date should be used. Most businesses respond to all emails within 24 hours. I would also suggest that when giving information about wiring funds that the account owner's bank routing number and the owner's account number be listed separately. Before wiring funds my credit union, for security reasons, is required by the government to have the account owner's address. This requirement is not the credit union "causing problems" . Manager Reply We thank you for your valuable feedback. Our employees or agents are to implement an 'out of office' reply when they are on leave, even if just for two days as in this case, and they are required do reply kindly to the clients' requests. Our apologies, we do hope to be working with you in the future and, as a welcoming sign, we'll offer you a 5% discount on any next bookings within our network. As it happens the above employee is not in service with us anymore, we'll make double sure nothing like this happens again in the future.

Ciao!
Our apartment in Rome is in a 16th century building in the Trastevere neighborhood, which is stereotypically charming: small narrow winding cobblestoned streets, many cafes and restaurants, churches, etc. We are 2 blocks from the pedestrian bridge across the Tiber that takes us right into the heart of the historical center, so it is very convenient.
The apartment is filled with books and art, which is what attracted me in the first place. The art is very eclectic, from old etchings to American cartoons to Japanese prints. And lots of the books are in English, though I doubt I will have time to read.
The bedrooms are comfortable, as is the living room and kitchen. And it is nice and cool. There are two problems. First, as with many old European apartments, it is too dim. Not enough windows and lamps.
The second issue is related to the cistern (?) over the toilet, which holds the water for flushing. When you flush, the cistern leaks -- a lot -- and it is hard not to get wet. You kind of have to position yourself near the door, ready to run out, while you reach over and press the flush button. OWNER'S REPLY: new lamps have been bought and the toilet leak has been repaired!
Oh, wait, as they say in Information Technology, that's not a bug, that's a featureç a nice cleaning shower automatically each time you use the toilet!
The first night I found my bedroom too noisy, but was able to sleep comfortably on one of the 3 living room couches -- enough room to sleep on as long as I don't point my toes. Haven't had the noise problem since.
As always, it is nice to have the apartment to come back to in the late afternoon, after a hard day of tromping around to see all the sights.

We enjoyed our stay in this apartment!
Just around the corner you find the hustle and bustle of the busy Trastevere dining/nightlife, but we slept with our windows open and in our street it was just very quiet. This apartment has no a/c, but it is very shady and in our opinion the fans suffice.
We (including 2 kids) could walk to most of the main attractions.
With kids the Spanish Stairs and Villa Borghese is just a bit too far, but the last day we had a ticket for a hop on/hop off tourbus.
The kids loved the busride and it gave us the opportunity to visit more interesting sites, spread over Rome.
April 2009 / United States
Very charming and nice apartment, very good location. Filippo was extremely kind and helpful. The apartment is a trifle dark, even with the lights on, but that is a detail. It is certainly a happy environment in which to stay during a visit to Rome.
June 2008 / France
Signor Filippo!Un grand merci-grazie mille-pour le séjour dans cet appartement si particulier, dans un quartier bien agréable et qui nous a permis de profiter de cette ville extraordinaire. Arrivederci
March 2008 / United States
We very much enjoyed our stay in Rome, and the apartment met our needs very well. There are, however, two items we should let you know about:
First, the sink in the bathroom is not draining and wasn't doing so after the first few days we were there. We just used the kitchen sink. It's pipes need to be cleaned out.
Second, a couple of days before we left, water started dripping from the ceiling at the entry to the living room, but in the hall. It did so for about 36 hours and then stopped. We put a bucket under it. It is obvious from looking at the ceiling where it was leaking from that this has happened before. Perhaps the apartment above has a leaky pipe?
Again, we enjoyed our stay, and won't hesitate to use Roman Reference again, or to recommend you to others.

Good apartment in an excellent location! Filippo (the owner) was very nice to us and showed us a quick tour around the surroundings!
Highly recommended!

When we arrived and met Dalu and Filippo at the rental at Vicolo del Bologna, 20 we knew we had made the right choice. During the 3 weeks we were there the venue was perfect for us. At first sight we could tell the apartment was owned by an artist having a European flair and walls filled with art. It is well appointed with a very comfortable sitting room, dining area and all the necessary dishes and cooking utensils. We felt very much at home and the owners were very quick to respond to any questions. An additional highlight was the ability to be on line with the computer that was provided.
We highly recommend this apartment in the heart of Trastevere

The location was fantastic! The space was good - but the apartment was filthy. Dog hair everywhere - dust dust dust. We cleaned and scrubbed the bathroom shower before we used it.

We are already back from our stay in Rome.
We enjoyed very much Rome and the appartement as well.

My friends and I wanted to thank you for the wonderful way Roman Reference handled our trip. The apartment was wonderful and we had the times of our lives in Rome this past week. Thank you for everything.

Our group of 5 adults had a wonderful stay in this apartment. It was clean, comfortable and centrally located being just a short walk to the historical centre. Within a minute's walk were the restaurants and piazzas of Trastevere. The apartment's agents were friendly and helpful.
