I loved this apartment, the worst thing about it was leaving!  The neighborhood is fantastic, outside of the heavy tourist area....basically if you walk toward the River from  the apartment you get to it he tourist area, and if you walk away you get into a true roman neighborhood.  The apartment is at the base of the Giancolo, a green leafy hill of Rome.  The closest piazza is a great place to relax in the evening and watch the kids playing soccer.

The apartment is clean and in good condition, the decor is a great mix of clean modern furniture and funky vintage movie pictures.  I loved the high wooden ceilings.  Do note that it is on the first floor, but I was a woman by myself and felt safe.

Enzo, who met me was pleasant and very helpful.  I hope to return!

I liked the apartment. It was big enough for five people. The apartment faces a big Roman road, but it is not noisy inside if you close the windows. It was pretty hot in June, so we had to use AC (which is 10 Euro per day extra charge). The location is super convenient, since a subway station is a few steps away. The owner Carlo was very friendly and helpful.

This apartment is quite extraordinary. Modern, sunny, decorated with the most amazing taste. The location in Rome is interestingly in contrast with the neat sort of perfection of the apartment. Don't get me wrong, I loved it in many ways, it's quite central, lively, with a great market, lots of shops and restaurants and a cute little park. But it's an explosion of noises, colors, nationalities. It doesn't affect the apartment though, I find it just adds charme to it all.
Highly recommended, an experience to remember.

There are many things about the apartment that are wonderful.  First, the location cannot be beat.  Campo Dei Fiori is a wonderful area in Rome that provides a great mixture of the stuff that tourists like to do with a taste of real Roman life.  Wonderful little restaurants and shops - and the square itself is much fun.   The apartment is within walking distance of all of the major sites, although we did take a taxi to the Vatican!

With respect to the apartment itself, the kitchen is delightful and there is a second communal area with a dining table and duvet that is quite comfortable as well.   Reasonable amenities - including a washer although (and this is typical in Italy) no dryer.  Enzo, who manages the keys, met us and helped us with our absurd amount of luggage.   (The apartment is on what we Americans consider the second floor - two short flights up.) He also was very helpful in walking us through the features of the apartment and showing how things worked, as well as getting the internet up and running.  We were happy for the lovely fruit and wine that were waiting for us - they were much appreciated after our drive up from Sorrento!

There are a few things about the apartment that are quirky.  First, the space is quite uneven.  There is a huge, beautiful master bedroom that occupies what one would expect to be the living room.  It has a small study with a day bed and a private bath.   SInce this was a graduation trip (one from high school and one from college) we gave that space to the girls as a treat and they certainly enjoyed it, as would anyone.  The problem, however, is that having chosen to turn what would otherwise be the living room into a huge master bedroom, the remaining communal areas are a bit small, as are the other bedrooms.  The second bedroom is an average, comfortable room with an adjacent full bath.   The third bedroom, however, is truly terrible - the twin beds were very uncomfortable and there were minimal amenities and the tiny bathroon and shower next door was not very practical - particularly the shower.   We had a group of 5 and only one of the twin beds was made up, which was a bit of a presumption about who was sleeping where - and there were no extra linens should we have desired to arrange ourselves otherwise.   Also, I think that the apartment could just use a really good cleaning.  The surface areas are taken care of, but move an object and, well .... Also, the bedding and toweling was barely sufficient - these are very small things that make a big difference day by day to guests and are very easy to correct.

All in all, the experience was positive and I would recommend the apartment, but advise that you be very mindful of the very large difference among the bedrooms.

We recently stood in this apartment in Rome for three nights. Given its location close to Campo dei Fiori and not far from Ponte Sisto/Trastevere, this would have been a great facility, except it had a number of defects, which the owner was unable/unwilling to fix.

To start with, the TV you can see in the picture was simlpy not there. Neither was the DVD player that was mentioned in the description. Only one of the two burners of the stove were working. The washer and dryer were both out of order. The owner volunteered the latter and offered to pay for laundry service. However, he did not reveal the defective stove until we brought it up. He also claimed the description of the apartment did not include a TV - it did, as does the accompanying picture.

Our unfortunate experience illustrates the general risk for visitors to work with a middle man like Roman Reference. While the company's CEO, Guglielmo Parasporo, was quick to apologize when we complained, he was also quick to remind us of the fine print of the rental terms and conditions, which explain the limited power of the company - since it does not own any of the apartments it lists on its web site, essentially, it can only nudge but not force the (independent) apartment owners to fix any defects! That being said, my humble suggestion to do what is in the power of the company - offer us a partial refund - has been ignored thus far.

My recommendations to other visitors are the following:
- Make sure you rent an apartment that has been "verified" (basically this means checked out) by Roman Reference or any other rental company you use
- Don't pay in cash; instead use Paypal. This gives you more power in case of any problems. Unfortunately, our attempt to use my wife's Paypal account did not work, probably because she had not used her account for some time and she had never used it it abroad

I cannot say enough great things about not only the apartment, but the location in Rome, neighborhood and mostly the hostess Stella. The apartment is even more beautiful in person than in the pictures, you cannot go wrong with this choice of place to stay. You literally walk out the front door and turn to your left and can see the colliseum just blocks away. The neighborhood has many nice little market stores, and one amazing restaurant nearby. I wish I could remember the same of it, but it sits on a corner, and is ALWAYS busy. Their food, service and prices are amazing there. Stella was more than we could have imagined for a host, she kept in touch the entire time, had her mom cook us a wonderful italian meal, answered all our questions and recommended many places to stay. She took care of us for the months prior to the trip, and during our entire stay.

It was my second stay in Rome with the RomanReference. Marvellous again! Chicco's (the owner) apt. is a perfect place to stay. Cosy, elegant, with a good location, comfortable - well, except for the narrow kitchen, but whatever! :) Very friendly neighbours. And Chicco himself... helpful, hospitable and a pleasant Roman gentleman :) If You find any sign of some tears anywhere in the house... it's ours... We cried when we were leaving ;) Great time, great spot! Thank You Chicco!! :)

This apartment was great!  It was out first stop in Italy, and we could not have been happier!  Everything was clean and ready for us-- seeing as to how it is hard to keep white furniture and white things (in general) clean, this is saying something!  It was a great space for me and my wife, and is very conveniently located in the middle of everything! ~10 min walk from the Colosseum, and only a few minutes' walk from the metro/subway.

The host was awesome, very hospitable.  He even had a list of recommended places to visit, and good places to eat (this was very important to us).  Additionally, he offers his services as a private guided tour of Rome (for a fee) if needed.

In all, it was a lovely experience, and we would definitely rent again!

Staying in an apartment in Rome rather than a hotel was the best idea I've had in years. The apartment was fine, more than large enough - with two bedrooms and two bathrooms - for two friends to share comfortably. It is on the ground floor of a corner building so I can't say it was quiet because it wasn't but I think that there would be very few apartments in Trastevere that could claim that. But I've lived in Rome and it didn't take me long to readjust to the background noise, from the street (and the demented Trastevere seagulls), that is part of life there. The apartment was adequately equipped for visitors - washing machine, dishwasher, enough cooking equipment for basic self-catering (and why, with so many wonderful trattorie and pizzerie, on your doorstep, would you want anything else?), lots of clean linen. Location was great - within very close walking distance of Viale Trastevere and also of Ponte Sisto and then to the Centro Storico. There are also two supermarkets very close by as well as the daily fresh fruit and vegetable market in Piazza di San Cosimato.
I have only two quibbles about this apartment: if you are planning to rent it, make sure you take some toilet paper. There was none there when we arrived, which could and would have been a disaster for anyone arriving after supermarket closing time unequipped with a viable substitute like Kleenex; and I suggest to the owner/manager of this property that they invest in and use some washable mattress protectors. Even with a sheet between me and the mattress, the thought of sleeping in such close proximity to the evidence left by previous visitors was a bit creepy.

The apartment was in a great location and we were able to walk to practically all the sights of Rome.
Steps up to and inside the apartment were a challenge as they were steep but, thankfully, only one flight.
The outside space was great and we breakfasted there each morning, also great for drying laundry..
Basic apartment but still charming as it felt really rustic and authentic.
Having two separate bedrooms was ideal for us and the beds were comfortable.
The key holder who greeted us was pleasant and took time to explain everything to us.
The agency was very helpful by allowing us to leave our luggage at the apartment as we had a late evening flight.
Supermarket etc within five minutes.
Enjoyed our stay In Rome Trastevere and glad to recommend this apartment.

This is apartment is wonderful. A very nice space to call home for the week. You can walk to most of the major sites from here and the metro stop is very close.  We enjoyed the neighborhood and all of its restaurants.   Stella was an amazing host.  She was available whenever we had a question and she was very helpful giving us many pointers about the sites of Rome.  She made sure our stay in Rome was perfect.

The apartment was exactly as shown, you get as pictured and more! Beds were comfy enough for myself and the rest of my family, and I pride myself on being a picky sleeper - but all was well, pillows and mattresses are both comfy AND you'll find after a day of roaming in sweltering Rome, you'll be worn out and easing into sleepy slumber without your own consent.

Air conditioning in each bedroom was incredibly refereshing, very fast and functionality is accessible and easy to understand - within an hour of being on, the room will have cooled down to a sufficient temperature (bare in mind, my natural envirnoment is England, compartively cool and so the AC really does work quickly).

With regards to rooms, plenty of space for clothing and any other accessories, you can see how much space you get in each room from the pictures - they are in no way deceptive. The dining/kitchen room may be more snug than most are used to, but perfectly manageable, also whilst we're here - fridge/freezer/dishwasher/microwave/toaster/kettle etc. all worked to tip-top condition!

Bathrooms are clean and pleasant, showers are great - quick hot water, not much more to say but considering there are two showers - everyone can get washed and cleaned quickly and swiftly.

WiFi was supplied for us, free and no limit on usage (or bandwidth), was very fast and a great surprise as didn't realise we would get it.

Location wise, you're less than ten minutes from the Colosseum, you're about 5 minutes from Manzoni metro station (the tube) and the street on the corner of Via Labicana is filled with cheap and cheerful eateries. Excellent location and within a ten minute walk to the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine, about thirty minutes from Pantheon and a longer walk for the Vatican City (take the Metro, only 3 EUR there and back! OR 6 EUR for a whole days travel).

Marco and his wife provided an excellent service, offering AND giving help when needed, they advised us on trips we wanted to take and also sorted out some well priced taxis for us to travel from the airport to Via Labicana. As previously mentioned in some reviews, we were greeted by a humble chocolate cake - a humble and tasty one and was gone before the front door closed!

For the price, location, apartment and service, I'm not sure we could have done better for the price; I believe some of the negative reviews on here may have been 'of there time' but this is a 5/5 for us every time!

Thanks again Marco and Tatiana!
