Excellent place. The laundry availability was very useful. The location was quiet, yet close enough to get just about anywhere. I would say this is a 2 bedroom/1 living room sleeping space instead of 3 bedroom. Plenty of space, but surprised me. The wifi is helpful for Americans who don't have a European SIM card in their phones, but the apartment should really have a repeater as you can only get the wifi near the hall.

There is an amazing gelato place nearby. The grocer was close and we cooked a few times at the flat. I would recommend this as an excellent place to stay in Rome.

What an amazing apartment!!!
The location was absolutely perfect being centred in the old part of Roma. None of the incredible sights to see were more than a 25 minute walk away with the Coliseum being literally at the end of the road.
The layout of the apartment was fantastic with a lovely sitting room with balconies open onto the quiet road outside; fantastic to be able to hear local people and lovely music, a real sense of community.
The kitchen is perfect with all the things you would ever need to russel up a banquet if you wanted to!
The bedrooms both have balconies as well as airconditioning which is imperative in the hot season.
The two bathrooms were great and with the addition of a washer dryer machine it meant we could travel light!
Mariano from Roman Reference met us at the apartment at the agreed time, showed us where everything was in the apartment and how everything worked and was on hand at anytime that we might have needed him.
We could not fault the service that was afforded us from the time we booked the holiday until the time we left.
I could not recommend this apartment highly enough and we will be rebooking again in the next couple of years.
Thanks again for making our holiday so fantastic!

This apartment was just as it looked in the pictures online. It has a wonderful location close to Piazza Navona, The Pantheon and Piazza Campo di Fiori and is a great local place to stay. The apartment is also very safe-- there are 3 doors with locks you must go through in order to even get into the apartment, so myself and my boyfriend felt very safe while we were staying here! Enzo was very nice and accomodating and I would absolutely come again! It is up 4 flights of stairs, so if stairs are a problem, I would say this is not the best apartment--- but it is amazingly charming and a lovely place to stay!

My husband and I had a great time at the apartment. It was located just outside the centre of Rome so we were away from traffic and the large amount of tourists. The apartment was clean, well air conditioned and had local shops, resturants and markets at our disposal. The locals were nice and helpful.
The owner is a very friendly, helpful and kind person. Very easy to approach with any questions. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to stay in Rome.

Alles top!

The location was superb. We had a problem with the plumbing in the bathroom, but the keyholder arranged for a plumber to come the next day. The TV didn't work and eas going to be fixed after our stay. The roof garden was spoiled because all of the plants were dead and this detracted from the area, however we loved the view from the roof. The kitchen could be improved with the addition of a kettle, and some more crockery.
In saying this I did like the area, it was easy to get around, we found that eating and drinking away from the square was more enjoyable (not to mention cheaper)

Apartment's owner Comments
Hi Ian, thanks for informing us of all this, we're arranging for the gardener to check and fix the automatic watering of the plants on the terrace and following up with the TV and the missing crockery.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

The location was excellent.  We were able to travel to all important sights by foot and the area was fun.

We have stayed in Trastevere before and so understand that this is an old part of Rome and that the modern gadgets and services available to us in our home city are not to be expected in old Italy.  We are happy to experience a different way of living and quite enjoy the vibe of Trastevere.  However, this apartment needs some work to be up to the standard advertised.

As well, the lady who greeted us although extremely pleasant, did not have any information to share about the area.  We inquired about good places to eat and to visit and she did not provide any suggestions.  We have used Cities Reference for a few years now and have found the best part of the experience is the knowledge provided by the people who rent the accomodations- making it a very different experience than staying in a hotel.  This was not the case.  We arrived, were given keys and that was the end.

The stars given was for location and the fact that it had a deck- which was lovely to enjoy in the evening and early mornings!

The apartment was clean and  location was good, bit noisey from the bar down the road on Friday Night, but was not a problem. We thought the internet charge was a bit much, as it didn't state we had to pay for it. According to the owner we had used 50 euros of internet in 6 days, and if we wanted more we had to pay another 50 euros. Also stated there was 50 euros of electricity included in the rental price, but on checkout, we were asked to pay another 67 euros, we thought was a lot, as we had not used the cooker much, but had used the washing machine a few times. 117 euros of electric in less than 14 days is quite a lot of money. You have no way of checking the internet use or the electricity used. This is the reason we can only give it 3 stars. Would we stay there again ?????  Maybe. Regards. Terry & Manuela.

Belle vue.

Pros:
- Great location in Rome
- Air conditioner
- Washing machine

Cons:
- No internet for my phone and iPad, which was really sad for me and my wife
- The lift in the building is really terrible, but it was a funny experience
- Electric power strip broke right next to the metal bed (it's where we slept), which could even kill us in the worst case
- A shower that does not drain well and it wasn't so comfortable to use it because of that

The appartment was at an excellent location and to be able to sit outside is great! To have Wifi and AC is a great plus also. Climbing the stairs was no problem. It can be a bit noisy at night, but after a day strolling in Rome I got so tired, I didn't hear it ;-) A bit of AC in the bedroom would be nice. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to you all!
All contact with Cities Reference was very smooth and clear.

I have just reviewed the apartment where we stayed and which proved an excellent choice.  In choosing where to stay in Rome we were also influenced by reviews of the many different agencies who offer apartments and we chose yours because of the good reviews.  These were well justified and we thought the description of the apartment on the website was absolutely accurate and the photographs realistic.  We also thought your service was excellent.  All my emails were responded to very quickly and the arrangements for accessing the apartment went very smoothly.  I would like to write a review of your services - can you advise which website I can use for this?  I don't have a facebook account but I do quite a lot of reviewing for tripadvisor.

We truly enjoyed staying in Apartment 421 in Rome.  We especially liked the location and how we could easily walk through quaint side streets to find delicious food, fun entertainment and great shopping.  We stayed here with 3 kids under the age of 10 and it was an excellent size apartment.  One recommendation - please replace the towels with newer ones and have some more available.  For a family of 5, there were only 4 towels and they were very worn.  Thank you again for a wonderful trip to Rome!

This location of this apartment is AMAZING.  Right in the center of everything - and surrounded by wonderful high-end shopping.   It is only a 5 minute walk to the Spanish Steps.   Our famiy of 5 was able to walk to all of the sites - Vatican, Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, etc.

The apartment itself is old and has not been maintained.  The water barely flowed out of the shower head and the shower curtain wasn't long enough to go all the way around the shower - so water spilled onto the floor.  Several of the outlets didn't work - and a lot of the lamps did not work either.   One of the lamps was broken and propped up against a wall.  The sofa was very dirty.....

If the apartment received a little bit of care it would be a 5 star rating due to the prime location.

This place is a lovely, spacious apartment in a wonderful location in Rome just steps aways from Piazza del Popolo.  The bedrooms comfortably sleep 4-6 adults and the bathrooms are modern and sleek.  We enjoyed spending our time together in the large, bright family room.  The location is fantastic as there are numerous local bars, cafes, and restaurants.  We especially loved the take-out pizza shop and gelateria right next door!  Finally, Simona was a wonderful hostess.  Despite our flight delay of over an hour, Simona graciously welcomed us to the apartment.  The items she provided in the kitchen for our stay were greatly appreciated as well.  We would definitely stay at Casa Viola again!  Thanks!

Great location, and a very charming apartment.  The terrace is lovely and the beds are very comfortable with plenty of extra sheets/blankets/towels.  It has all the amenities you need: kitchen, washer, air conditioning.  It could have been a bit cleaner, however, especially in the downstairs area.

Quirky, yet cosy apartment. Very conveniently located near shops, supermarkets, alimentare and great restaurants.

A fantastic base to explore Rome, within walking distance of several ancient monuments  and surrounded by excellent transport links, with Piramide metro station just 2min away, and a tram line and lots of bus routes 1min from the door.

Comes with lots of useful appliances, like hairdryer, pots and pans, microwave, crockery, cutlery, chairs etc., and you'll recieve prompt replies from the owner if you have any queries. Only drawback was the AC, while working, did need to be turned off and on again every few hours or it'll freeze up.

For those on a budget, I highly recommend this place. Great value for money!

This is obviously an ideal location for anyone wanting to explore Rome from its historic core outward, and boasts one of the city's most distinctive and exceptional panoramic views. The terrace is as beautiful as the photos suggest and, aside from a wobbly sun shade requiring some caution and instinct to operate safely, is a great place for dinner parties, relaxing, and sunbathing. The master bedroom is comfortable and the ensuite convenient. Windows downstairs are very exposed to the other buildings' terraces, so if privacy is a big issue this may be a problem for you if you want to leave them open (wasn't for us). The Bang&Olufsen stereo sounds wonderful when hooked up to a computer or iPad (bring your own L/R plugs-headphone jack cable), but the CD player didn't work. Wifi worked very well. Piano was out of tune but plays well enough for casual study/jamming. Kitchen has plenty closet space and functional stove but is not fully equipped, we had to buy cooking knives, cheese grater, wine glasses the first weekend (and of course there's no microwave, though if you're thinking about using one in the center of Rome, you belong somewhere at the bottom of Michelangelo's Last Judgment). If you're not planning to cook much you won't have a problem. We did ok once we bought the extra supplies. Washing machine is old but works fine. The upstairs area is very charming and unique (our Italian friends told us the owner is a well-known architect, and it shows) but the bathroom on the top floor is not acceptable for everyday use, it's more of a beach-style convenience with a low hanging shower and a miniature toilet, and doors which don't close fully. We were told on arrival that there is no elevator in the building (though there is in fact a small one holding just two people, and it works very well) and walked our suitcases up six flights; we were also told that there was only one set of keys available when we had paid a substantial supplement for double occupancy. We were able, after some discussion, to persuade the gentleman who showed us in to leave us his set so we could have one each, and of course the cleaners showed up on the last day with an extra set. Once we took a day to figure out how to work all the lights and clean the kitchen thoroughly (there were ants and many unwashed utensils and surfaces), the rest of the trip was pretty smooth. It's a place that has great location and character, but on a medium term basis it's only really suitable for one couple, because of the limited privacy and convenience upstairs. Rating three stars because the price is very high for the level of comfort and service offered; I've rented in Rome before for weeks at a time and there is better value to be had, depending on your needs. I think in future I'll look for places further from the tourist center, as this place really emphasizes that side of the city (which of course is beautiful and buzzing, and may be exactly what you are looking for), over the kind of relaxed neighborhood experience you get from Trastevere or the northwest of the centro storico. But if you have means, don't mind older, grittier accommodation, and want to live right next door to one of the great monuments of Western civilization, this is a way to do it while having a much more personal and complete domestic experience than in the many elite hotels nearby. And it has a piano.

Apartment's owner Comments
Thank you for your feedback, very accurate. Actually three stars seem a severe assessment after reading the full review! But your comments are very useful to improve the equipment of the kitchen, to repair the CD (before your coming it worked, probably a maintenance issue) and to tune the piano again. It is worth noting that the upstairs bathroom is really very small and can be used when the main one is occupied. However, it allows a certain independence on the top floor during the night or for occasional showers after sunbathing. Therefore receptivity is not limited to a single pair, especially if guests belong to one family. I'll certainly tell the cleaners not to leave the kitchen (or the flat) in conditions which are not perfect.
